Take Charge Against Cancer – HPV Awareness Tabling

Through this tabling event, our group is supporting Universities Against Cancer on the Know Your Status Campaign and Vaccination Drive and Operation Wipe Out, a statewide Alabama initiative aimed at eliminating cervical cancer which is primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Both organizations help with HPV screening and vaccinations, so we want to support this cause during National Cancer Prevention Month in February. Students can sign their name on a poster and pledge to get the HPV vaccine the following week during the Know Your Status Vaccination Drive on campus.

“I Am Jane Doe” Film Screening

DKMS Bone Marrow Drive (Student Center)

We will be tabling for people to sign up to become a part of the National Bone Marrow Registry. The process will involve students filling out and signing a registration form with information about themselves. They will then use a mouth swab that will be sealed in a small envelope to be used for DNA matching. These envelopes will be shipped to DKMS, a national organization that raises awareness for the bone marrow registry. We will also hand out free DKMS souvenirs to those who sign up.
