Academic Excellence
We are expanding advising, modernizing academic resources, and creating new opportunities for student achievement. SGA advocates daily for initiatives that help every student thrive in the classroom and confidently prepare for what comes next.
Create a myBama Mobile App
Partner with UA’s Office of Information Technology to launch a comprehensive UA mobile app, allowing students to access UA resources with the tap of a finger.
Establish Task Force on Advising
Set up a working group to provide administrators with student-informed recommendations on how to improve the advising experience at UA.
Expand Pre-Professional Advising
Increase the number of pre-law and pre-health advisors within Barefield College of Arts and Sciences to meet increased demand and facilitate efficient advising.
Enhance Advising Using AI
Integrate virtual assistants to answer student advising and course questions on a 24/7 basis using UA advising department data.
Thoughtful Registration Policies
Coordinate with the Office of Academic Affairs to shift class registration start time from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, ensuring students can register after UA offices officially open.
Expand Experiential Course Credit
Partner with UA’s Office of Academic Affairs to provide students in demanding extracurriculars with one experiential learning credit hour per semester, aligning with the experiential learning graduation requirement for incoming students.
Free Graduate School Applications
Connect with SGA leaders across the UA System to develop a free graduate and professional school application week for students interested in attending UA, UAB, and UA.
Promote the Legends Punch Card
Celebrate the academic successes of students by rewarding students on the Dean’s and President’s List with the Legends Punch Card, providing discounts and allowing them to engage further with local Tuscaloosa establishments in the process.
Host a President’s List Reception Recognizing Student Achievement
In collaboration with Dr. Mohler and Faculty, invite spring President’s List recipients to a formal reception recognizing academic excellence and celebrating student achievement.

Canva for Campus
Leverage relationships within the UA System to provide UA, UAB, and UAH students with free access to Canva Premium.
Add GPS Trackers to Crimson Rides
Modernize the Crimson Ride experience through enhanced real-time GPS tracking, reducing wait times and improving the reliability of your daily commute.
New Student Experience
Overhaul the experience for incoming freshmen by restructuring the orientation leader system, modernizing Bama Bound, and further promoting existing freshman experiences.
Increase Student Engagement Fund
Increase funding for the new Student Engagement Fund to provide students with financial support for test prep, leadership programs, and club involvement, supporting holistic success.
Increase Pay for Student Workers
Work alongside the administration to enhance student pay, recognizing their vital contributions and ensuring campus employment compensation remains competitive for students.
Hometown Meal Requests
Collaborate with UA Dining to launch a Hometown Food Request Form, giving students the opportunity to advocate for meals from their home countries, states, and communities, helping them feel at home on campus.
Upgrade the Graduate Lounge
Partner with the Graduate Student Association to advocate for a dedicated third space on central campus where graduate students can study and connect with peers.
Graduate Dining Dollars
Grant graduate students with opt-in access to dining dollars, supporting them financially while allowing them to further engage with local businesses.
Student Wellbeing
By advancing initiatives that support students’ physical, mental, social, and financial well-being, we aim to ensure every student can access the care, resources, and community necessary to thrive.
Campus Snack Pantries
Add snack and toiletry pantries in the Office of Student Care and Wellbeing and the Camellia Center, providing students with resources after difficult life events.
Student Life Embedded Therapist
Collaborate with the Division of Student Life to establish an embedded therapist to support students in Greek life and beyond.
Fresh Fruit Friday Expansion
Partner with UA’s Food Pantry to expand Fresh Fruit Friday, giving students free fruit in multiple campus locations, including Shelby Quad and the Bruno Business Library.
Enhance Campus Safety
Partner with UAPD to evaluate campus security infrastructure and pursue expanded digital door locks, camera coverage, and overall campus safety.
Money Matters
Implement a financial literacy series covering financial topics ranging from credit/debit to UA scholarships to promote financial literacy.
UA Recreational Center Updates
Support student physical health by uplifting University Recreation’s efforts to modernize their experiences, including upgrading the Recreation Center equipment expanding by adding another recreations facility.
Create Student Talent Spaces
Create spaces in Student Life buildings that incorporate student creativity, including artwork and fashion portfolios to showcase and commend the incredible talet that our peers possess byond the classroom.
Community Engagement
In strengthening connections between students, organizations, campus leaders, and the Tuscaloosa community, we can ensure every voice is heard, supported, and at home at UA.
50 Clubs in 50 Days
Visit at least 50 student organizations in the first 50 school days of the SGA President’s term to build relationships with student leaders, inform groups about FAC funding, and ensure every student organization has the resources and support needed to thrive.
TooGoodToGo Access
Bring the TooGoodToGo app to Tuscaloosa and partner with the Tuscaloosa Downtown Merchants Association to offer students highly discounted meals at closing time to reduce food waste.
Expand Access to Local Internship Opportunities
Work with Try Tuscaloosa’s 16 community partners to create a summer cohort of SGA’s newly launched program, providing students with local work opportunities close to campus.
Lobby for D.C. Housing
Collaborate with the UA System to advocate for a real estate purchase in Washington, D.C., dedicated to student housing for internships, such as Capitol Scholars.
Civic Ready Campaign
Promote civic participation by providing nonpartisan, accessible information on voting, civic participation, and upcoming elections, allowing students to feel more informed and encouraged to be civically engaged.
Student-Centered Leadership
We are building an SGA that listens, communicates, and leads with students’ needs at the forefront. Through stronger collaboration, greater organizational unity, and responsible stewardship, we are working to make student government more effective and accessible for generations to come.
Improve Alumni Relations
Dedicate a position in the Executive Cabinet to strengthening alumni relations by deepening ties with graduates, supporting Capital Campaign efforts, and assisting the annual Council of Presidents gathering.
Connect with Counterparts
Connect Executive Council and Cabinet members to corporate, government, and University leaders to learn best practices and increase mentorship.
Complete the Capital Campaign
Ensuring access to SGA for future generations, successfully finish SGA fundraising campaign during the Rising Tide 2.0 capital campaign.
Preserve Our History
Travel across Alabama to meet with SGA alumni and record an oral history series in partnership with Special Collections, creating a living archive of student leadership.
Monthly Full-SGA Meetings
Hold monthly meetings for all of SGA led by the Executive Council, creating a space to share updates, discuss projects, and ensure a unified organization.
Relaunch A-Book
Equipping first year students with a comprehensive list of campus resources, allowing them to thrive.
