TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama Student Government Association (SGA) proudly announced the successful launch of “It’s On Us Week” during the second week of October. The initiative held in partnership with the national “It’s On Us” campaign, aimed to raise awareness about sexual assault while supporting the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center.

Over the course of the week, SGA organized a series of events and fundraising efforts to engage the campus in the fight against sexual assault. Events included tabling efforts with the University of Alabama Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, fundraising nights at various local restaurants, and a community-wide pledge to support sexual assault prevention.

The efforts led the SGA to present a donation of $30,210.71 to the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center at the SAFE Center Gala, held at the University Club.

“I am incredibly proud of how our campus community came together to support sexual assault awareness and raise these funds for the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center,” said Lucy Bonhaus, Vice President for Student Affairs. “The SAFE Center is an essential resource for our city, and I’m honored to present this contribution on behalf of the student body.”
