2026 Nursing College Senate Candidates

These are candidates for the Capstone College of Nursing Senate seats in the Spring 2026 General Election.

Amelia Donaho

I am Amelia Donaho, a nursing major with a strong commitment to service, advocacy, and meaningful leadership. I currently serve in the First Year Council, where I have worked to turn student ideas into action through legislation and community partnerships. As a future nurse, I value listening first, responding with intention, and leading with compassion, principles that guide my involvement on campus and in my daily life.

Seeing how intentional, student-led leadership can make a real difference has led me to run for Senate. My experience in student government has shown me that lasting changes come from collaboration, consistency, and following through. Expanding initiatives that are already making an impact, advocating for students whose voices may go unheard, and ensuring Senate decisions reflect both student needs and meaningful campus outcomes is my mission.

My platform, Advocate with Amelia, focuses on three priorities. Collaborating with the Capstone College of Nursing, I will develop hands-on health literacy micro-workshops to teach practical skills, including CPR, nutrition, and medication understanding, to UA students and the local community. Building on my previous legislation, I will lead a campus-wide NICU donation drive with DCH Regional Medical Center and Project Sweet Peas to support critically ill newborns and their families. Lastly, I will work through the Belonging & Wellness Committee to implement science-backed nutrition and fitness initiatives that connect physical well-being to academic success.

Together, by leading with intention, advocating with empathy, and prioritizing student voices, we can build a healthier, more connected University of Alabama.

Julia Grisaffe

Hi UA, my name is Julia Grisaffe. I am a freshman from Tulsa, Oklahoma and I am excited to announce my candidacy to serve as a Senator for the Capstone College of Nursing.

My passion for nursing began early, inspired by my grandmother, a nursing professor whose career spanned bedside care, public schools, and higher education. Growing up alongside her stories–and time spent in her nursing learning labs–shaped my understanding of service, compassion, and the responsibility nurses carry within their communities.

This year, I have had the opportunity to serve on SGA’s First Year Council. If elected, my platform will center on Community, Connection, and Advocacy. I hope to strengthen relationships between lower- and upper-division nursing students, expand mentorship and volunteer opportunities, and work alongside faculty and administrators to ensure nursing students have the resources they need to succeed.

I would be honored to represent the Capstone College of Nursing. I hope you will #JoinJulia on February 24th from 7am-7pm on MyBama!

Catherine Price

My name is Catherine Price and I’m a freshman from Sylacauga, Alabama majoring in Nursing here at UA. I’m beyond excited at the potential of serving our campus as a Capstone College of Nursing Senator. Throughout this year I’ve had the opportunity to join several organizations including First Year Council. Being a part of FYC has given me firsthand experience in passing legislation for the betterment of our campus. I’m running for senate because I’m passionate about creating positive change on campus, and I would love the opportunity to focus that passion on supporting nursing majors specifically.

My platform focuses on three main goals: Promote Wellness: I want to create consistent stress relief and wellness events that help students manage the pressure of nursing school. These events would give nursing majors a space to slow down and prevent burnout before it begins. Present Change: I plan to gather student feedback through surveys that allow nursing majors to identify challenges and offer ideas for improvement. This ensures that students shape the decisions made on their behalf and that SGA responds to the concerns that matter most. Provide Necessities: I hope to build a simple and reliable resource exchange where students can drop off or pick up gently used items such as scrubs, equipment, bags etc. This would make essential gear more affordable and accessible for everyone.

Thank you for considering me to represent the Capstone College of Nursing in the Senate. It’s time to #PropelWithPrice!

August Williams

Hi, my name is August Williams, I’m a sophomore from Leeds, Alabama, majoring in nursing with a minor in physical therapy. I’m thrilled to announce that I’m running for the position of Capstone College of Nursing Senator. I’m involved in several organizations at the Capstone, including Al’s Pals, the Black Faculty and Staff Association, and UA HOSA. I’m running to represent our college and serve as a strong voice for positive change. In this role, I will also advocate for other colleges. Our students deserve more support not only academically, but also mentally and professionally.

My main initiative is to advocate for mental health and to prevent burnout. Providing ways to help before it comes and to cope with it. I will also work for early clinical exposure to relieve anxiety and feel more confident earlier than the second semester. Also, getting a real feel of what we’re currently learning in the classroom. Another proposal that’s important to me is peer mentoring. It will help lower-division students connect to upper-division students for support and not navigate this journey alone. Also, providing volunteer opportunities within the community, having workshops, and opportunities to help candidates stand out in their nursing school applications. As well as early NCLEX preparation.

My platform focuses on connecting, preparing, and supporting nursing students. It would be my honor to serve as your Nursing Senator. Thank you for taking the time to me as a candidate. I hope on February 24th, you will #AdvocateWithAugust! Roll Tide!
