TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Student Government Association (SGA) is excited to host the annual Green Week, a week-long series of events aimed at promoting sustainability and environmental awareness on campus. Organized by Maggie Duncan, Director of SGA Environmental Affairs, Green Week will run from Monday, January 27 through Friday, January 31 and will feature activities designed to engage students, faculty, and staff in sustainable practices. The events are as follows:
Event Schedule
- Dorm Recycling Promotion: Monday, Jan 27th
- SGA, in collaboration with the UA Recycling Center, will be promoting sustainability by encouraging recycling efforts across six dorms on campus through digital signage and extra recycling bins in the lobbies. Recycle materials to make a difference in reducing waste and increasing recycling on campus!
- Biodegradable Confetti Day: Tuesday, Jan. 28th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Pick up biodegradable confetti in the SGA office for your graduation photos and learn about how switching to eco-friendly products can benefit the environment.
- Clothing Drive for Temporary Emergency Services: Wednesday, Jan 29th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Join us in donating any clothing items to support the Tuscaloosa Community and reduce textile waste. Bring gently used items to donate in the SGA office.
- Tree Planting with UA Facilities and Grounds: Thursday, Jan 30th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Join us for a hands-on tree planting event with the UA Facilities and Grounds. The location is TBD.
- Trash Pickup at Manderson Landing with UA Rowing Team: Friday, Jan. 31st from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
- Come help UA SGA and the UA Rowing team cleanup trash at Manderson Landing!
