SGA Senate Confirms Michael Dobbs as Vice President for Student Affairs

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — November 2, 2025 — The University of Alabama Student Government Association (SGA) Senate has officially confirmed Michael Dobbs as the next Vice President for Student Affairs, following his nomination by the Executive Council and a comprehensive review and interview process conducted in accordance with the SGA Constitution and Code of Laws.

Dobbs, a junior in the Culverhouse College of Business, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in Spanish. A former Culverhouse College of Business Senator, Dobbs has represented more than 9,000 students within the college and has collaborated with peers to advance student-focused legislation, including initiatives to strengthen student and alumni engagement.

He is also the Founder and President of the Greek Mental Health Ambassadors, an organization dedicated to promoting awareness of on-campus mental health resources through a network of more than 80 trained student ambassadors. Dobbs additionally serves as a Culverhouse College of Business Ambassador, supporting recruitment, alumni relations, and student engagement efforts.

SGA President Lucy Bonhaus expressed confidence in Dobbs’ ability to serve UA students in this role.

“Michael’s commitment to service, leadership, and student well-being reflects the values of the Student Government Association and The University of Alabama,” Bonhaus said. “His experience in student advocacy, mental health awareness, and campus engagement will strengthen our work to enhance the student experience across campus. We are excited about the impact he will make as Vice President for Student Affairs.”

Dobbs will assume the responsibilities of Vice President for Student Affairs immediately and will join the Executive Council in continuing its efforts to support student involvement, campus programming, and the overall student body.

His appointment concludes the formal process outlined in Article IV, Section 4 of the SGA Constitution, including the application period, qualifications review, interviews, and Senate confirmation.
