TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama hosted Auburn University for the annual Better Relations Day, a longstanding tradition celebrating the partnership between the state’s flagship universities. Held on Monday, Nov. 18, the event welcomed students, administrators, and community leaders to connect with one another, foster collaboration, and strengthen the unity between Alabama’s academic communities.
Students exchanged conversation about initiatives within each SGA, providing tips and advice to one another based off their experiences. Members of both SGA’s were able to meet their counterparts at the opposing school, allowing them to compare their experiences and gain new ideas from one another.
The keynote speaker of the event was Mrs. Susan Foy Spratling. Mrs. Spratling spoke about the historical presentation on the significance of the James E. Foy Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Sportsmanship trophy. ODK presidents from each schools signed a pledge reinstating the presentation of the trophy to the Iron Bowl winner at the Auburn-Alabama basketball game in the spring.
At the conclusion of the event, SGA Presidents’ Samad Gillani and Jack Hilton signed the Better Relations pledge, affirming the student bodies commitment to foster strong relationships between the two schools.
