Communication and Information Sciences Senate Candidates
Maddie Hardwick
My name is Maddie Hardwick, and I am excited to announce that I am running to be your next College of Communication and Information Sciences Senator. I am a Sophomore from Frisco, Texas, majoring in News Media and Criminal Justice on the Pre-Law with a passion for connecting people through effective communication and innovative media. Communication and information sciences isn’t just my field of study, it’s my pathway to making a meaningful impact in how we share stories, build relationships, and create understanding in our rapidly evolving digital world. My mission is to ensure that every C&IS student has the involvement opportunities, academic integrity support, and professional image resources they need to thrive both in their studies and in their future careers. I believe that when we invest in our students’ success today, we’re building the foundation for tomorrow’s media leaders, communication professionals, and information innovators. My platform centers on three core pillars: Involvement, Integrity, and Image. Through enhanced communication systems, direct dialogue opportunities, and stronger peer mentorship, we’ll build a more connected C&IS community. By establishing clear academic standards and safe reporting channels, we’ll maintain the highest levels of integrity in our work. And through professional development workshops, headshot sessions, and wardrobe resources, we’ll ensure every student is prepared to represent themselves and our college with confidence. Together, we can create a college environment where every C&IS student feels engaged, supported, and ready to make their mark on our world. Make Progress with Maddie!

Graduate School Senate Candidates
John Patrick Campbell
Hello, I’m John Patrick Campbell, and I am a current Master of Accountancy student from Trussville, AL. Last May, I graduated from the Culverhouse College of Business, majoring in accounting and finance. I have been involved in numerous organizations on campus during my time here at the Capstone, including the Million Dollar Band, the Avanti Orientation team, Culverhouse LIFT program, and the Business Honors Program. I am running to be a voice for all graduate students, regardless of your course of study. If you have a great idea where you think SGA should take the lead or a change you want made, I promise to listen and do my best to provide the support to make this amazing university a better place. My platform is Be Accountable. Accountability is something that at times has been lost in today’s world. Based on my background, I promise to bring honesty and integrity to the SGA Senate. I have had the great privilege of being part of the amazing Culverhouse School of Accountancy. Here, I’ve developed what our director calls “the accountant’s mindset”. I know how to think critically and literally to solve real-world problems. After spending the last four years here on campus, I know how things work and the connections necessary to get things done. It would be my upmost honor to serve you as a Graduate School SGA Senator. Thank you and Roll Tide!

Eric Gumz
Hello, my name is Eric Gumz and I am from Fairfield, Wisconsin and am running for the office of Graduate School Senator in the SGA. I believe we are at a pivotal moment in the history of not only this institution but of academia as a whole. Numerous changes are affecting how we live our academic lives, with technological advancements, political forces, and social changes always in the daily news. Now, in a moment of change for the university with a new president, I believe it is an inflection point for the university and I intend to ensure that the Graduate School is appropriately represented during this crucial time. Through my involvement in the MBA Association and Manderson Case Team, I have had the privilege of meeting and working with many of the graduate business students, and I look forward to having the opportunity to work with students of other graduate disciplines. With help from the other graduate school senators, I intend to work to protect graduate stipends, ensure that graduate students are afforded all the necessary opportunities and privileges in their graduate studies, and generally uphold the academic standards of this institution. Thank you for your time in considering me as a candidate and I hope that you will exercise your civic right as a member of this school and vote as you see fit. Roll Tide.

Human Environmental Sciences Candidates
Sam Beall
My name is Sam Beall and I’m a junior from Fairhope, Alabama! I am running for senator for HES because I want to strengthen connections between our college and other disciplines to ensure students are prepared for real world challenges. My platform focuses on building interdisciplinary programs, such as partnering with Culverhouse College of Business for analytics and the College of Engineering for sustainable design. I also aim to expand alumni mentorship opportunities so students can gain valuable industry guidance. Finally, I want to establish consistent, hands on tutorials and workshops for professional software, ensuring graduates are fully equipped with industry-standard digital tools.

Justin Kelch
My name is Justin Kelch and I am a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, majoring in Sports Management and Finance at The University of Alabama. I am proud to be involved with Alabama Athletics as a team manager and have gained valuable experience working with both the swim and dive and football programs, which has allowed me to connect with students, athletes, and faculty across campus. I am running for the College of Human Environmental Sciences Senator position because I want to represent our college and work to create more opportunities for every student. My platform focuses on three main initiatives. First, I want to expand the Sport Management program by building stronger partnerships with athletic programs on campus, giving students more chances to gain hands-on experience before graduation. Second, I want to make the Senate and SGA more accessible by encouraging greater student attendance at meetings both in person and online, creating better communication and transparency between students and their representatives. Third, I believe it is important that every student’s voice is heard and valued, which is why I will hold weekly office hours to listen to concerns and ideas directly from my peers. I am committed to advocating for the needs of our college and ensuring that our voices are represented.
