The Spring 2025 SGA General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Available positions on the ballot include the Executive Council and Senators for each respective degree- awarding college/school. Voting will be open on myBama from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. CT on the day of the scheduled election. Additional information regarding the election timeline will be shared on the SGA Elections webpage.
The available Executive Council positions include President, Executive Vice President, Vice President for Student Affairs, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Financial Affairs, Vice President for External Affairs, Vice President for Belonging and Wellness, and Executive Secretary. The apportionment of seats for the 30h Senate approved by the Student Government Association is as follows:
- Capstone College of Nursing – 2
- College of Arts & Sciences – 10
- College of Communication & Information Sciences – 3
- College of Education – 2
- College of Engineering – 6
- College of Human Environmental Sciences – 4
- Culverhouse College of Business – 12
- Graduate School – 7
- School of Law – 2
- School of Social Work – 2
Optional Candidate Informational Meetings will again be offered this year via Zoom at 6:15 p.m. CT on Wednesday, January 22 and Thursday, January 23 for students that want to learn more about UA’s Student Government Association, the positions on the ballot, and the election process. The application process for the Student Judicial Board will also be explained.
Students interested in running for an elected SGA position should be aware that the Candidacy Filing Period is set for January 25 – February 2, 2025, and that the deadline to submit the Application & Statement of Candidacy is 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Once a student submits their application, they along with their campaign manager, will receive an email with instructions on how to register for one of the Mandatory Orientation Meeting for Candidates and Campaign Managers offered February 3-7, 2025. The orientation sessions will cover the election timeline, candidacy requirements, and the election guidelines, of which include campaign regulations and expectations of certified candidates and campaign teams.
