Participants will learn common risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide, and how to keep themselves and others safe”.

Hidden in Plain Sight: Understanding the Reality of Human Trafficking is an educational event hosted by the Student Government Association Lobby Board and the Blue Beacon Foundation. It is focused on raising awareness about the realities of human trafficking and how it often goes unnoticed in everyday life. Attendees will hear from passionate advocates and community leaders who will share insight on what human trafficking looks like, who it impacts, and how individuals can recognize warning signs and take action. The goal of this event is to educate, empower, and equip participants with the knowledge needed to help prevent trafficking and support survivors.

Take Charge Against Cancer – HPV Awareness Speaker Event

Our group is supporting Universities Against Cancer on the Know Your Status Campaign and Vaccination Drive and Operation Wipe Out, a statewide Alabama initiative aimed at eliminating cervical cancer which is primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Both organizations help with HPV screening and vaccinations, so we want to support this cause during National Cancer Prevention Month in February. For this event, Dr. Carson Edwards, an Ob/Gyn fellow, will be speaking on various HPV topics.
