TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Student Government Association (SGA) proudly announces that President Samad Gillani and Vice President for Belonging and Wellness Aubrei Grisaffe presented at the NASPA Strategies Conference earlier this month. Accompanying them in the presentation was Dr. Ruperto Perez, Vice President for Student Health and Wellbeing and his team members, Wesley Bryant and Gracie Sunde.
Their program proposal, titled “Reimagining DEI Through Student Wellbeing,” was selected for presentation at the conference, which equips higher education professionals with tools and insights to enhance the student experience. The conference, attended by over 1,400 professionals and student leaders, serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration in higher education.
Gillani and Grisaffe’s session drew more than 40 attendees, including administrators and student leaders from institutions across the country. Their presentation focused on the integration of student wellbeing strategies into campus and student life, showcasing UA SGA’s commitment to fostering an environment where every student feels valued and supported.
“We were honored to share our insights on our recent focus on student wellbeing,” said Grisaffe. “This was an opportunity to highlight the work we’re doing at UA and learn from others working toward similar goals.”
The NASPA Strategies Conference provided a platform to exchange ideas and discuss best practices in creating welcoming and supportive campus environments for all. UA SGA’s participation emphasizes our leadership in addressing critical issues facing higher education today.
