The Student Judiciary is the judicial branch of the Student Government Association (SGA). Assisting the Office of Student Conduct on a weekly basis, Clerks, Associate Justices, and the Chief Justice have jurisdiction over a variety of cases, including parking ticket appeals, football ticket penalty appeals, and non-academic violations of the Code of Student Conduct. Through the Office of Student Conduct, members of the Judiciary also host events centered around education, give classroom presentations regarding proper conduct, and present to student organizations on these same matters.
In addition to their duties in the Office of Student Conduct, members of the Student Judiciary also assist the Student Government Association in numerous matters. Their principal role comes through the interpretation of the Constitution and Code of Laws—the governing documents of the SGA—and ensuring that all members of the Student Government Association adhere to these documents. They also work closely with the Elections Board during the campaign season, serving as an appellant court to hear a variety of cases.
In addition to their official duties, the members of the judiciary are committed to adhering to the values laid out in the Capstone Creed. To encourage students at The University to follow the Capstone Creed as well, we host and sponsor various programs geared toward engaging students throughout the academic year. These programs range from classroom presentations to speaking events that have featured UA coaches.
