Department Information

The department of Student Governance & Citizenship strives to be the standard in guiding and developing emerging leaders committed to civic engagement, intentional advocacy, and the principles of democratic governance and institutions.

The department serves as a mission-critical component of The University of Alabama and the Division of Student Life by providing programmatic, procedural, and financial oversight to the Student Government Association through direct and indirect advisory and administrative support to over 300 elected and appointed student body leaders.

After retiring from UA in 2022 completing 27 years of service, Rick returned to SGA on an interim basis in Fall 2023 to assist SGA. When Rick originally came to UA, he was Associate Dean of Students and helped SGA re-start after their three year hiatus.

Marcie has been at the Capstone since 2011 where she started in Specialized Recruitment in Admissions. After thirteen years with Admissions, including two with Campus Tours, she is now proudly serving as the Administrative Assistant II for the Student Government Association. She is excited to be back face to face with students and helping the SGA further their goals on campus.

Luke Dille is an MBA student in the STEM Path to the MBA program. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering in May 2024. Throughout his undergraduate years, Luke was actively involved in the Student Government Association, serving as First Year Councilor, Senator for the College of Engineering, Vice President of Student Affairs, and Director of First Year Council.
