These are the candidates for the Culverhouse College of Business Senate seats in the Spring 2026 General Election
Owen Amazan
My name is Owen Amazan, a Finance and Accounting double major on the Pre-Law track. Through my academic pursuits and my professional experience in the legal and real estate sectors, I have developed a deep appreciation for the administrative structures and policies that keep our university moving.
I am running for the SGA Senate because the Culverhouse College of Business deserves representatives who can bridge the gap between academic theory and professional execution. My goal is to ensure that every business student has the resources, transparency, and advocacy they need to succeed at the Capstone and beyond.
My platform focuses on three key pillars: Professional Readiness: I will advocate for expanded networking opportunities between Culverhouse student organizations and industry professionals to better prepare students for competitive post-grad careers. Resource Optimization: I aim to improve the accessibility and reservation systems for study spaces in the Hewson and Bidgood Hall complexes to support our growing student body and enhance collaborative learning. Fiscal Transparency: Leveraging my accounting background, I will work to ensure student G&A fees are allocated efficiently toward initiatives that provide direct, tangible value to the student experience.
I ask for your vote to bring a dedicated, results-oriented perspective to the 31st SGA Senate. Roll Tide!
Russell Cole
My name is Russell Cole, and I am a freshman from Tuscaloosa, Alabama majoring in lower division accounting and finance. I am thrilled at the opportunity to potentially serve you as a Culverhouse senator. In my time so far at the Capstone, I have become involved in many organizations including First Year Council and IFC. Being raised in Tuscaloosa and being exposed to the University’s culture for my whole life, I have gained a desire to serve my campus community. As a student of the Culverhouse College of Business, I believe all students need representation that is communicative and aimed toward results. I want to be a voice for Culverhouse students that first listens and then acts with purpose. Student concerns and ideas should not only be heard, but also acted upon.
If elected, I plan to implement these three initiatives: Stronger Student Voice: Launch a monthly “Bama Asks” survey to a rotating, random pool of students to receive honest feedback from different perspectives on academics and campus life. Academic Communication: Improve communication between students and professors by advocating for deadlines to be updated onto Blackboard, utilizing the calendar feature. Also, improve awareness for Culverhouse specific opportunities and deadlines via signage and email. Community Engagement & Service: Expand the number of volunteer opportunities with local nonprofit organizations, allowing students to benefit the tuscaloosa community and develop leadership and professional skills.
