TUSCALOOSA — January 14, 2026
The Spring 2026 SGA General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026. A run-off election (if necessary) is planned for Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. Available positions on the ballot include the executive council and senators for each respective degree-awarding college/school. Voting will be open on myBama from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. CT on the day of the scheduled election. Additional information regarding the election timeline will be shared on SGA Elections.
The available executive council positions include president, executive vice president, vice president for academic affairs, vice president for communications, vice president for external affairs, vice president for financial affairs, vice president for student affairs, and vice president for belonging and wellness. The apportionment of seats for the 31st Senate approved by the Student Government Association is as follows:
- Capstone College of Nursing – 3
- Barefield College of Arts & Sciences – 9
- College of Communication & Information Sciences – 3
- College of Education – 2
- Styslinger College of Engineering – 6
- College of Human Environmental Sciences – 4
- Culverhouse College of Business – 12
- Graduate School – 7
- School of Law – 2
- School of Social Work – 2
Optional candidate informational meetings will again be offered this year on Wednesday, Jan.21 and Thursday, Jan. 22 for students who want to learn more about UA’s Student Government Association, the positions on the ballot, and the election process.
Students interested in running for an SGA elected position should be aware that the candidacy filing period is set for Jan. 23 – Feb. 1, 2026, and that the deadline to submit the Application & Statement of Candidacy is 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026. Once a student submits their application, they and their campaign manager will receive an email with instructions on how to register for one of the mandatory orientation meetings for candidates and campaign manager offered Feb. 2-6, 2026. The orientation sessions will cover the election timeline, candidacy requirements, and the election guidelines, which include campaign regulations and expectations of certified candidates and campaign teams.
