Bama Runs for Breast Cancer 5k

Breast cancer affects millions of families every year. This 5k fundraiser will: (1) Raise funds for The DCH Breast Cancer Fund. This fund, created in 2004, helps uninsured women in the West Alabama community, with mammograms, additional testing if needed, and personal items (wigs, prostheses, etc.) if they are diagnosed with cancer. (2) Promote awareness of breast cancer prevention and support within the UA and greater Tuscaloosa community. (3) Unite students and organizations across campus in a meaningful, service-driven initiative. This 5k run/walk is open to all students, faculty, staff and community members! Pink attire is highly encouraged! Please attend to hear from speakers and support this cause! Talk Saves Lives is a standardized, peer led, suicide prevention and awareness program provided by The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). According to the AFSP, TSL “provides participants with a clear understanding of this leading cause of death, including the most up-to-date research on suicide prevention, and what they can do in their communities to save lives. Participants will learn common risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide, and how to keep themselves and others safe”.
