TUSCALOOSA, AL – July 2026
The University of Alabama Student Government Association (SGA), in collaboration with Bama Dining, is excited to announce the launch of“Taste of Home,” a new initiative designed to help students feel more connected, represented, and at home at the Capstone.
Through the Hometown Meal Request Form, students will have the opportunity to share meals from their hometowns, home states, and home countries that they would love to see served on campus. By bringing the flavors and traditions that students grew up with to UA dining locations, this initiative aims to celebrate the diverse backgrounds of the Crimson Tide community and create a stronger sense of belonging for every student.
For many students, especially those traveling from across the United States and around the world to attend The University of Alabama, coming to college means leaving behind familiar places, traditions, and meals that remind them of home. “Taste of Home” was created to bridge that distance by allowing students to share a piece of their own communities with the entire campus.
In addition to requesting hometown meals, students can also submit family recipes through the Bama Dining Cookbook submission form for the chance to have their recipes featured in Bama Dining’s annual cookbook. This additional opportunity allows students to share meaningful recipes and family traditions with the broader UA community.
“This initiative represents SGA’s commitment to ensuring every student feels that the Capstone is their home. Whether students come from across the state, across the country, or around the world, everyone should have the opportunity to see their cultures and traditions reflected on our campus.”
– Samantha Simmons, SGA President
Students can participate in the “Taste of Home” initiative by submitting a Hometown Meal Request Form here and Bama Dining encourage students to take part in this initiative and help make the University of Alabama feel even more like home.
